North Italy trip pt 3

After visiting Vicenza we finally arrived in Verona --Verona was a great smaller city in Rome, suuuper clean and the people there were very friendly. They had sites all over the place to visit---

First visit was to the Castelveccia museum, renovated by Carlo Scarpa, amazing modern architecture inside this thing! (probably my most favorite site of this North trip)

North Italy trip pt 2

After Maser we visited Vicenza, Verona and Venice --


Got to see the famous Villa Rotunda while we stopped quickly in Vicenza -- though we couldn't get past the gate...

Visited the Teatro Olympico, and old Roman theater

After the theater visit we walked around the city a bit, went to Palladio's Basillica in the center of the city

Return from North Italy Field trip

I just came back to Rome from a school field trip to Northern Italy. What a fantastic country! Everything I see here is amazing. we went to Maser,Verona, Vincenza, and Venice!


Visited the Villa Barbora in Maser, as well as Carlo Scarpa's contemporary cemetery design there too --- neat stuff!

This place was very interesting -- the design was sort of split into two pieces. one contained graves and markings, sort of how we would normally view the deceased. Another for a place for 'reflection' as I understood it; places where one could wander through interesting shapes and textures, sense spatial changes and material changes, light quality, and hopefully find a peaceful space to reflect back on the life of a deceased loved one. I took most of my photos of the latter--

Project 2 review day -- NEXUS

Just some pictures from our review -- apologies for the darkness, we were all presenting power point presentations...

Everyone was assigned to also make a board to summarize our project, to later be brought back to ISU and posted in our exhibition in the fall -- ours is the top, followed by a few other groups' boards below
